China Silk white softens and diffuses light. It produces a glowing, warmer white light; ideal for skin tones, or for diffusing sunlight. It introduces ambient bounce.
Silk is a light diffusion with soft light. You can use it at high density or diffuse it to create soft shadows. This diffusion is great if you want to soften the sharp edges of your subject. White is similar to natural light, great for portrait work.

Black Silk is used to reduce the reflection of the light source on a reflective surface. If black silk is used, only the source will be reflected, the diffused quality of the light will be the same.
Silk visually smoothing perfect surfaces reflects light into every corner without disturbing shadows. Silk can be used to prevent reflections (ultra black) on shiny objects like the surface of water, glass, TV, furniture, beads, or to create shadows (ultra blue) or to saturate objects with subtle light to make them look like they are illuminated by the light source.
